5-APB Capsules 90mg
5-APB Capsules 90mg (5-(2-Aminopropyl)benzofuran), also known as Benzofury, is a synthetic entactogen and stimulant belonging to the benzofuran class. It is not approved for any medical use and is sold as a research chemical / novel psychoactive substance (NPS). A 90mg capsule is generally considered a strong to very strong dose (common reported oral doses range from 50–120mg, with higher doses increasing risk significantly).
Farmacologie
5-APB acts as a serotonin–norepinephrine–dopamine releasing agent (SNDRA) and reuptake inhibitor. It has particularly strong activity at serotonin systems, including potent agonism at 5-HT2A en 5-HT2B receptors. This profile produces MDMA-like entactogenic effects (euphoria, empathy, sociability) combined with stimulant and mild psychedelic properties.
- Aanvang (oraal): 30–90 minuten
- Piek: 2-4 uur
- Duur: 6–12 hours (with after-effects possible)
Acute veiligheidsprofiel
- Hart-en vaatstelsel: Increased heart rate, blood pressure, and risk of palpitations or chest pain. Potent 5-HT2B receptor agonism raises concerns for cardiotoxicity (e.g., valvulopathy or heart muscle damage) with repeated or long-term use.
- Neurological/Psychiatric: Euphoria, empathy, enhanced sensory perception, but also anxiety, agitation, paranoia, insomnia, and potential hallucinations at higher doses.
- Other Common Effects: Jaw clenching (bruxism), hyperthermia (elevated body temperature), sweating, nausea, dry mouth, and muscle tension.
90mg is on the higher end of recreational doses and substantially increases the risk of adverse effects, including overheating, severe anxiety, or cardiovascular strain.
Toxicity & Reported Harms
- Hepatotoxicity: In vitro studies show 5-APB is more toxic to liver cells than its isomer 6-APB, causing oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, and cell death.
- Fatalities: 5-APB has been implicated in multiple deaths, both alone and in combination with other substances. It has been linked to at least 10 drug-related deaths in the UK in earlier years, with postmortem cases confirming toxicity.
- Risico's op lange termijn: Potential for serotonin system damage, heart valve issues (due to 5-HT2B activity), and neurotoxicity. Limited human data exists on chronic use.
Geneesmiddelinteracties en contra-indicaties
- Hoog risico: Other serotonergic drugs (MDMA, SSRIs, MAOIs) — increased chance of serotonin syndrome.
- Voorzichtigheid: Stimulants, alcohol, cannabis, or any substances affecting heart rate or temperature regulation.
- Strongly contraindicated for individuals with cardiovascular disease, hypertension, liver problems, mental health disorders (especially anxiety/psychosis), or during pregnancy/breastfeeding.
Product-Related Risks
Unregulated capsules frequently have inconsistent dosing, purity issues, or may contain other substances. Effects can vary widely between batches.
Juridische status (vanaf 2026)
5-APB is controlled in many countries (e.g., UK Class B, Australia, Germany, and others). It may fall under analogue laws in the US and remains restricted or banned in numerous jurisdictions.
Belangrijke Opmerking: This is a neutral, educational overview based on available scientific literature, case reports, and toxicology data. There are very limited clinical safety studies on 5-APB in humans, and significant uncertainties remain regarding both short- and long-term risks. This information does niet encourage use. 5-APB carries real potential for acute toxicity, cardiovascular harm, and dependence. Consult a qualified healthcare professional for any health concerns and comply with all local laws.
